Cher Wood is the proud owner and operator of Street Wise Canine and a seasoned professional dog trainer with over a decade of experience. Growing up surrounded by dogs, Cher’s passion for animals is deeply ingrained in who she is. She realized early on that she wanted to dedicate her life to helping dogs and their owners connect on a deeper level.
Cher’s journey as a dog trainer has led her to care for a diverse pack of eight dogs of all shapes and sizes, along with a loving family that includes her husband, daughter, rabbits, guinea pigs, and a cat! Her home is a testament to her belief that every creature deserves a happy, harmonious environment. Cher’s teaching style is rooted in sharing her own experiences and helping others create the same positive, lasting relationships she has with her own animals.
Cher’s passion lies in fostering free-thinking dogs through a unique blend of motivation and marker training. Her approach encourages dogs to think independently while understanding the expectations of their owners. By focusing on these techniques, Cher helps dog owners build strong, trusting relationships with their pets, grounded in clear communication, mutual respect, and a shared sense of purpose.
Meet Melissa
Melissa De Decker brings over 10 years of experience in the dog training, boarding, and daycare industry to Training Dogs Online. A passionate pet care professional, Melissa is not only a dedicated dog trainer but also the founder of Taffy’s Legacy Canine Rescue and Rehabilitation, a rescue organization committed to rehabilitating and finding loving homes for dogs in need.
Melissa’s approach to training is about empowering owners and educating dogs. She believes that no dog is too challenging to train and specializes in everything from basic obedience to complex behavior modification. She operates The Dog’s Paw - Pet Retreat & Training in Delhi, Ontario, where she provides boarding, daycare, grooming, and training services. When she’s not helping her clients build better relationships with their dogs, Melissa can be found spending time with her own dogs, as well as her chickens, ducks, turkeys, and a pot-bellied pig!
Melissa's innovative, obedience-based marker training language is designed to make dog training accessible and enjoyable for everyone. With her guidance, dog owners learn to communicate effectively with their pets, creating relationships built on trust, understanding, and mutual respect.
